On Friday, Nov. 30, the Thayne Volunteer Fire Department, Thayne Ambulance Service and the Thayne Police Department responded to a car/building collision. The accident took place at approximately 2 p.m. According to Thayne Police Chief Fred Putnam, Elizabeth Olson, 58, was traveling southbound and turned into the Shopko Pharmacy parking lot.
As she approached the building to park her vehicle, she hit the accelerator instead of the brake, he said.
Olson’s vehicle, a 2006 Honda Civic, ran into a support beam in the building and “bounced” sideways, Putnam said.
The two people inside the building at the time of the accident escaped injury as did Olson, Putnam stated.
“That’s the amazing thing,” said Putnam. “No one was hurt.” According to Putnam the building did not sustain structural damage in the collision. A tow truck was called to remove Olson’s vehicle from the building.
