Town of Thayne offering handgun safety course

The Town of Thayne is offering a Gun Safety and Basic Handgun Course. The class will take place on Friday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Thayne Community Center.

“Class size is limited,” Councilman Lorell Woolley said. “And it is filling up fast.”

According to Woolley, the one night course is designed to promote “the safe and accurate use of the handgun.”
Topics that will be covered include “handgun design and types, fundamentals of safety and accuracy, ammunition types, how to hold, how to load and unload, how to clear basic jams and malfunctions and how to defend hourself using a handgun,” Woolley said.  The class is “great for beginners, women, couples and as a refresher course for the experienced,” he continued.  The class is open to those age 18 and older. There is no cost to attend. Registration is required.  To reserve a seat in the class, contact the Thayne Town Hall at 883-2668.
