The Town of Thayne has been awarded some additional funding from the state for its main street waterline project. According to Mayor Bob King, the project will move forward with spring.
“We have been approved for approximately $1.2 million in funds,” he said. “This time we went after all the funding that we think we need to complete the entire project. Once the paperwork is completed we will begin the bidding process. We will bid for early spring which we hope will mean that we have more interest in the project and that the bids are more competative.”
The project calls for replacing water lines along U.S. Highway 89 in Thayne and along Dana Street. According to King, a leak test completed on the town’s system revealed some significant leaks in those areas. The town has also had problems with broken lines along its main street.
“We are reading meters and will continue to do that so that once the water lines are fixed we can see how much actual loss in our system came from those areas,” he said.
