The Town of Afton will hold a public hearing on Feb. 11 regarding a Wyoming Business Council grant application.
The purpose of the grant is to acquire funds for street improvements and sewer improvements within the town, said Town Administrator Hyun Kim.
“I am preparing a $3 million funding request,” said Kim. “It is a Wyoming Business Council grant. It’s an ambitious request but the town is optimistic about the application.”
According to Kim, the grant application will be completed in February and submitted to the state in March. If approved, the funds will be awarded in the fall.
“With the funds in place we would move forward with the project in 2015,” said Kim. “It has always been the Town of Afton’s plan not to piecemeal different projects with regards to street improvements and things like that. The town wants to get the money in place to move forward with significant projects and get the necessary repairs and improvements in place in an organized and efficient manner. If awarded, these funds would allow the town to move forward in that way with street and sewer projects.”
The Feb. 11 public hearing will begin at 4 p.m. in the Afton Council Chambers.
