Afton to submit $3 million grant application

The Town of Afton will submit a $3 million grant application to the Wyoming Business Council this week. The application is set to be sent in on Friday, Feb. 28. The purpose of the grant is to acquire funds for street improvements and sewer improvements within the town, said Town Administrator Hyun Kim.

According to information provided by the Town of Afton, the grant funding will allow the town to begin work on its Capital Improvements Plan (CIP). The CIP study is on display at the Afton Town Hall.
“The Capital Improvements Plan is an evaluation of the infrastructure systems within the Town of Afton,” said Dave Kennington of Sunrise Engineering. “The plan evaluates maintenance or replacement needs as well as future potential infrastructure expansion.”

According to information provided by the Town of Afton, the CIP will be used to “select and schedule future projects as well as identify potential grant programs that may help pay the cost of improvements.”

Anyone wishing to review the plan or offer input can contact Sunrise Engineering at 885-8500 or the Town of Afton at 885-8696.
