SV Half Marathon makes cut

SV Half Marathon makes cut

In just three years, the Star Valley Half Marathon has grown significantly. In participation, in volunteers and sponsorship and by word of mouth. It’s that last line that’s key and apparently that word continues to get out to the running community that the Star Valley Half is a race not to miss.

This week the local race, now gearing up for their 4th annual run in less than three months on July 12, was singled out by the Flipkey Blog, sponsored by Tripadvisor.com as the Top Wyoming race worth the trip. The blog picked a race in each of the 50 states. Their criteria included items such as “those who wowed us with their tireless devotion to charity, gorgeous landscapes and their popularity and strong reviews from those who have participated.”  Read the entire list by clicking here.

According to race organizer, Denise Kunz, it was a nice piece of recognition for an endeavor that is obviously close to her heart.
“I think it just shows how far we’ve come in these few years,” she said. “We couldn’t do it without so much help. But we take a bit of a break after the race and then start preparing for the next one.”

According to Kunz, this year’s race already has registered runners from Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Florida, Wisconsin and Indiana.

If you would like to join the race, be sure to check out www.starvalleyhalfmarathon.com to register. Questions can also be answered at starvalleyhalfmarathon@gmail.com. The SV Half is a USA Track & Field sanctioned event.
