A ground breaking ceremony for the new Wyoming Army National Guard Afton Readiness Center (Armory) will take place on Tuesday, April 29. The event is set to begin at 10 a.m. east of Star Valley High School at the corner of Warrior and Rulon Gardner Way.
According to information provided by the Wyoming Army National Guard, the new facility will replace the 19,076 square foot structure that was constructed in 1957.
The new “13 million project is funded with both state and federal funds and will satisfy the requirements for a Detachment of the 1041st Engineer Company.”
According to information provided by the National Guard, the new facility will be 45,655 square feet in size and will “provide space for training, administrative, supply/storage and unit-level maintenance activities.”
The facility will also serve as a shelter in the event of an emergency.
