The Wyoming Department of Transportation plans to begin sealing various bridge decks in Southwest Wyoming this month. A bridge, south of Smoot at milepost 72 on U.S. 89, will be included in the project.
“Operations are tentatively planned to begin June 16 and will last about a week, weather permitting,” said Stephanie Harsha, public relations specialist for WYDOT District Three. “Temporary traffic control will be in place to direct traffic while the work is underway. Traffic will be carried in one lane over the bridge while operations are underway in the adjacent lane. Speeds will be reduced through the construction areas for the duration of the project.”
According to information provided by WYDOT, an epoxy overlay will be placed on the bridge deck one lane at a time while traffic is carried on the other lane. The work includes first thoroughly cleaning the deck then placing two applications of the epoxy seal.
“Temporary traffic control and flaggers will be used to alternate traffic through the work zone,” Harsha said. “The work is a part of a district-wide bridge rehabilitation project.”
Cannon Builders Inc. of Blackfoot, Idaho was awarded the contract project last year.
WYDOT would like to remind drivers to slow down in work zones, be alert and cautious of roadside workers.
