Ask most people who grew up playing the old nine-hole municipal Valli-Vu course in Afton and you wouldn’t have to search very long for someone who was pretty happy by shooting a 58.
So for Carson Walker, Wyoming’s current 3A high school golf champ, to shoot a 58 on the new 18-hole course is quite an achievement. He recently graduated Star Valley High School with honors as the Salutatorian.
The previous record of 62 was shot in July of 2012 by course pro, Aaron Allred. Walker shot an amazing 12-under for the course.
According to SVHS head golf coach, Kelly Fullmer, there has only been six rounds shot in the 50’s in the history of the PGA tour “albeit on much longer, tougher courses,” he said.
Carson shot identical 29’s on both halves of the course which included a whopping ten birdies and eagle on hole #3, a 500-yard par-5.
Walker’s name will be added to the plaque in the pro shop as the first player in course history to shoot under 60.
