The 19th Annual United Way of Southwest Wyoming Helping Hands Day will be Aug. 23, 2014.
Helping Hands Day is a volunteer event where Helping Hands Day teams go out into the community to complete improvement projects for people with disabilities, senior citizens and non-profit organizations. Projects typically include facility repairs, renovations, beautification projects and house and yard work.
“We are currently looking for volunteers and projects in Sweetwater, Lincoln, Sublette and Uinta counties,” said Tracy Nelson, marketing and resource development assistant with United Way of Southwest Wyoming.
Helping Hands Day is an opportunity to show local people the needs in communities and how their “hands on” volunteer work can make a difference. In the past teams have consisted of families, sports teams, Boy Scout troops, church groups, businesses and individuals.
Although United Way has set Aug. 23 as Helping Hands Day, projects can be completed on days that are more convenient for volunteer teams.
Project request forms are due by July 10, 2014 to the United Way office. Contact United Way for a project request form or download one at www.swunitedway.org.
