The Lincoln County Fair Parade has become a tradition on U.S. Sen. John Barrasso’s schedule. He often references a picture in his Washington D.C. office showing he and his wife Bobbi as they pass under the Elkhorn Arch in a past fair parade.
“It’s great to be back he told the Star Valley Independent just moments after the conclusion of the parade Saturday afternoon in Afton. “We never want to miss this parade and ride with Delaine Roberts. I have always had a great admiration for him.” Sen. Barrasso served with former State Senator Delaine Roberts in the Wyoming Legislature.
Speaking of the work in the U.S. Senate and with the current administration, Sen. Barrasso advised, “We need to get some sanity to it.” We need to be living within our means. We need to have a balanced budget.” He credited congressional associates Sen. Mike Enzi and Rep. Cynthia Lummis for their teamwork on the topics of budget and use of Wyoming products. “This state was built on multiple use,” Barrasso emphasized. He added later, “They are making it hard to use our energy.”
On the topic of health care and noting co-sponsored legalization with Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), Sen. Barrasso said, “We want people to have more freedom of choice with regards to health care.” He continued, “We need affordable health care from a doctor of their choice, that’s what we need in health care reform.”
Barrasso and McCain announced the Obamacare Opt-Out Act or 2014 this past week. The legislation “will give Americans the freedom to opt-out of the individual mandate for health insurance coverage,” according to Barrasso office. In a statement on Sen. Barrosso’s website explained. “This bill will allow an individual to either notify their state or the federal healthcare exchange or use their tax filing to opt-out of Obamacare and avoid the penalty for non-compliance.”
Barrasso added, “But what we have is a president with out of control co-pays and high deductibles.”
On the Senator’s website he said the current law maintains control in Washington. “After four years of Obamacare, there is solid proof that the law is raising costs and putting Washington in control of Americans’ healthcare,” said Senator John Barrasso. “Our bill will give Americans a way out from Washington’s one-size-fits-all healthcare mandate. Wyoming families should be able to make their own decisions about what is best for their families.”
