School board approves recreation mil levy

In a 5 to 2 vote, the Lincoln County School District #2 Board of Trustees supported a motion to move forward with the enactment of a recreation mil levy in relation to covering operational expenses of a community swimming pool when and if funding to build a pool is secured.

Wade Hirschi and Lane Allred opposed the measure. Alan Linford, Karen Tallerico, Eileen Merritt, Donna Ivie and Connie Day voted in favor.

LCSD #2 had been one of only two school districts in Wyoming to not support a recreational mil levy previously with the other residing in Crook County (Sundance).

  1. Was this with out public comment, I was not aware of any I am concerned when more tax burden comes at the expense of the community and would like the opportunity to voice those concerns

    1. I know this was discussed at a previous Board meeting, but not sure about public comment time. As the article states, the Rec mil will only be enacted by the board if the funding for construction of a pool is secured – probably a ways down the road. I would bet there will be more opportunity for public comment at that time. I hope so – I want to be able to thank the board for taking this step in helping bring a swimming facility to our area.
