Las Vegas park named after slain Metro police officer Alyn Beck

The Las Vegas City Council voted unanimously to name an Indian Hills park for slain Metro police officer, Alyn Beck. Nicole (Hastings) Beck spoke to the Las Vegas Review Journal about the decision.

“I’ve run by that (park) so many times with Alyn and we talked about taking our kids there,” Nicole Beck said of newly christened Alyn Beck Memorial Park, near Fort Apache and Iron Mountain roads. “This means so much. Thank you.”

Alyn Beck, 41, was gunned down along with his partner, Igor Soldo, 31, while eating lunch at CiCi’s Pizza, by anti-government, anti-police zealots were found dead after a shootout with police at a nearby Wal-Mart.

 

Nicole is the daughter of Terry and Angela Hastings of Afton. Alyn is the brother of Scott and Brianna Beck of Fairview. Alyn and Nicole have three children. Officer Soldo was also  survived by a wife and baby. According to the LVRJ, a similar item is in the works for Officer Soldo.

Officer Beck had been working with the department since 2001. He was interred in the Afton, Wyoming Cemetery in June of 2014 with full honors.
