The Town of Star Valley Ranch has announced the last date of its Firewise Program for 2016. The Firewise Program is designed to create defensible space between homes and trees, shrubs and other growth.
The defensible space allows for more effect fire fighting efforts in the event of a forest fire. With only one more pick up of debris planned this summer, Star Valley Ranch Mayor Kathleen Buyers advises that piles of cut limbs and branches must be placed out next to the road starting Aug. 26.
She also said not to place the cuttings near the road before the Aug. 26 date and limbs must be less than eight feet in length. Town crews will pick up the firewise debris starting Sept. 7 and continue through Sept. 10.
