The annual Lincoln County Fair came to a close this past weekend with the annual Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) event held in Afton.

While locals always get a generous helping of applause at these events, it’s even better when they can excel. The crowd had plenty to be happy about as a couple of riders, Sonny Taylor, Logan Erickson and Brandon Claye, made it the full eight seconds and collected a score. In the case of Taylor, his 77-point ride in the Bareback event on Saturday night was good enough to win and collect a cool $993 for his effort. Erickson also collected a 77 for his ride in the Stock Saddle Bronc to win the event. Claye carded a score of 68.

After avoiding the majority of the rain on Friday night, the cowboys got drenched on Saturday night and for those hitting the arena dirt, it resulted in a trip to the laundromat. The steer wrestlers in particular were muddied from head to toe after the deluge. Josh Frost was named the All-Around Cowboy for his efforts in the Tie-Down Roping and Bull Riding events. He was one of only two who stayed atop the bulls for the weekend.
