The premier of “The Force Awakens” at Skyview Cineplex on Dec. 17, will be more than just a great movie night for Star Wars fans. It will also be a benefit for families in need through the unique group, Star Valley Samaritans.
“Star Valley Awakens” is the official name chosen by the group coordinating this event which is being spear headed by Dave and Lynette Johnson. “We have family in other areas that have been involved in great fund raising efforts and we felt like we wanted to do something to help those in need in this valley,” said the Johnsons. “After contacting Skyview Cineplex about the possibility of developing a fund raiser that would coordinate with a popular movie premier, we chose the opening of the newest in a long line of great Star Wars adventures, ‘The Force Awakens,’ as our target.”
“Rather than choosing just one or two families to benefit from our efforts, we decided to contact the Star Valley Samaritans who graciously accepted our offer to team up and produce a really great event,” the Johnsons continued.
The fund raising event will actually begin on Oct. 31 and continue through the premier. Star Valley Star Wars fans are encouraged to see all the upcoming events and event sponsors on the Star Valley Stars Wars Facebook page. A silent auction for prime theater seats will begin on Oct. 31 and conclude on Nov. 14. Reserved ticket seats will go on sale on Nov. 14 at 3 p.m. The culminating event will be on Dec. 17 and will begin at 6 p.m. with an auction, Star Wars costume contest and food. Ticket costs are $25 a person which includes a piece of pizza, drink, reserved theater seating and an official Star Wars bracelet. “The Force Awakens” will begin at 8 p.m.
