Overdue sled riders found safe

A call reporting four overdue snowmobile riders came into the Lincoln County Dispatch Center on Monday night, Jan. 4.

According to Captain Brian Andrews of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the report came in between 6-7 p.m. Star Valley Search and Rescue responded to the Strawberry and Greys River areas to search for the missing riders.

Preliminary reports Tuesday morning indicated that the four riders had been located safe and without injuries. Star Valley Search and Rescue members worked through the morning hours on Tuesday, Jan. 5 to assist the riders in getting out of the backcountry. Preliminary information regarding the incident indicated that a broken down sled may have contributed to the delayed return of the riders.
