Steve Jeffries has been named as the 2016 Wyoming Public Transit Assocation Volunteer of the Year. Jeffries was nominated for the award by the Thayne Senior Center.
“We want to tell you about our wonderful volunteer, Steve Jeffries,” said Melinda Pebbles, director of the Thayne Senior Center. “He has volunteered as a home delivered meal driver at the center for many years. Steve drives as often as needed. In the winter, when we are short on drivers, he will drive five days each week. He is an essential part of our day to day operations.”
According to Pebbles, “Steve is willing to do anything we ask.” “He delivers meals and runs many errands for seniors,” she said. “He also does shopping for them and takes them to medical appointments. As he delivers meals, he asks every senior if there is anything they need. He has been known to shovel walks, hang pictures, go to the post office, and many other things that are too difficult for the seniors we serve to manage on their own. All of the seniors appreciate all the service Steve performs.”
