A Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office investigation into a series of burglaries in the Star Valley area in early December has resulted in multiple felony charges being filed against three Idaho suspects. On the weekend of December 3, 2016 Deputies responded to three residential burglaries and one auto burglary.
Homes in Smoot, Fairview and Thayne were reported to have been broke into and numerous items were reported missing including firearms, televisions, household furnishings and personal documents. That same weekend an Auburn resident reported a wallet and binoculars missing from a vehicle.
Working with authorities in Soda Springs, Idaho, local officers were able to identify two suspects and after serving a search warrant they were able to recover some of the property.
Chelsea Jones, 26, of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, and Dustin Dunn, 26, of Bancroft, Idaho, have both been charged with two counts of Aggravated Burglary and three counts of Burglary for their alleged involvement in these incidents.
In a separate case, Kyle Alexy, 26, of Pocatello, Idaho, was charged for is alleged involvement in a residential burglary that took place in Fairview over the weekend of January 7, 2017 where a firearm was stolen. Alexy was apprehended in Idaho on January 10, 2017 after a short pursuit with Idaho authorities. It is alleged that Alexy was found in possession of the firearm taken in the Fairview burglary. Alexy has been charged with Aggravated Burglary for his alleged involvement in the incident.
Jones, Dunn, and Alexy are all currently being held by Idaho authorities pending extradition back to Lincoln County.
