Joshua O’Connell has been formally charged by the Lincoln County Attorney’s Office for two counts of burglary and one count of misdemeanor theft. The charges stem from two reported break-ins in Afton during the weekend of July 22 and July 23.
July 22 Johnson Grain in Afton reported an open back door when employees came to work. Security footage was reviewed and two individuals were depicted entering the business. Investigation revealed that nothing was missing from the business.
During the early morning hours of July 23 a burglar alarm was reported at Summit Auto Body in Afton. Afton PD and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded and discovered a break-in had occurred. Rechargeable batteries were missing.
O’Connell was identified and subsequently arrested in relation to the weekend’s events. A second suspect has not yet been identified.
“At this time the case is still under investigation,” said Afton Police Chief Jason Romberg. “The Afton Police Department is asking all business and homeowners to make sure their properties are secured.”
