The following is a news release from the Carbou County Sheriff’s Office
On Friday, September 1, 2017, at approximately 6:41 p.m. the Caribou County Sheriff’s Office received a report of shots fired near a residence in Freedom, Idaho.
The victim reported that a subject fired a handgun at him while he was mowing his lawn; striking the mower.
Deputies responded and searched the area for the suspected shooter, whom ad fled the area. Units were able to locate the suspect and attempted to stop the suspect.
The suspect fled on an ATV, nearly striking a uniformed deputy that was on foot in the process of attempting to make contact with the suspect. Deputies pursued the suspect until the suspect crashed on the ATV. The suspect was taken into custody, cleared by medical staff and booked into the Caribou County Jail. This incident is currently under investigation.
